Eyevan is a Japanese eyewear brand created in 1911. Offering prescription glasses and sunglasses, the brand has established itself with a characteristic style, combining design, class and modernity.

It was in 1972 that the brand was really born, originally coming from the Japanese house of Yamamoto Kogaku . Since then, Eyevan has become a reference brand in the world of eyewear.

An imitable style

Eyevan's design sources are multiple, coming from a variety of objects such as vintage glasses, telescopes , hand mirrors and old tools. The design team also draws inspiration from artifacts such as building structures and products of nature that the designers have observed. These many design sources are mixed and transformed to come up with unique frame designs .

The Eyevan branch of frames comes from the French cutlery of the 1940s . The metal frame comes from the structure of eye testing equipment from the 1970s and its parts are inspired by the arabesque patterns of ancient Japanese branches. Eyevan 7285 frames are made manually by artisans and state-of-the-art machine tools in Sabae , Fukui Prefecture. It is the leading city in the world for the production of glasses. Using both traditional and ultra-modern processes, the brand's seemingly simple designs are actually true works of art .

Only a handful of exceptionally skilled craftsmen in Sabae make the glasses one by one using nearly 400 processes . We are far from an industrial process but rather about the work of a goldsmith .

Eyevan was created in 1972 with a rather particular concept. Its vision is to offer “glasses to dress like a fashion item”. In 1985 , the brand made a sensational entry into the world of eyewear. Eyevan frames are therefore known for their timeless design and when we look at the handwritten drawings or archives of the brand, we can see the authentic craftsmanship of Japan . It is a true ode to creativity and enthusiasm.

Finally, in 2013 , more than 40 years after the launch of the brand, a new team of designers rebuilt the Eyevan 7285 brand based on the brand's old archives, redefining the standards of beauty .
