Masunaga Optical started eyeglass production in Fukui in 1905. Company founder Gozaemon Masunaga brought skilled craftsmen from Osaka and Tokyo with the ambition of firmly establishing the optical industry in Fukui. There are up to 200 manual processes involved in manufacturing an optical frame. Generally, productivity is reliable when a company is in charge of all processes. However, Masunaga Optical is the only company in Japan that has a factory in charge of all processes from raw materials to production and finishing in an integrated manner. Integrated production system improves detail and quality.
